Think I lost 2nd gear, needs opinions,Video inside.

Got my truck out for the 1st time in a few weeks for a road trip. Drove a hour and a half there. While in town I started noticing it didn't want to shift out of 1st unless I let out of the throttle. I had to use the hwy to head home, and at hey speeds everything is fine. If I try and accel hard and it tries to drop to 2nd it's like it goes into neutral and the rpms just bounce off the limiter.

If you have to drive it briefly do not use Drive. Try to use range 1 to take off and then shift to range 3 after reaching enough RPM. While in 3 try not to give it too much throttle or it will downshift to second, which in your case would be freewheeling and feel like neutral. Whatever the case avoid powering it in that condition like so doing in the videos - once the clutch material is burnt it tends to flake away leaving metal to metal contact. Keep in mind all of this crap goes into the fluid.
The safest bet is to not drive it until you're ready to have the transmission rebuilt. That will avoid galling up the reverse input clutch housing from metal-to-metal contact with the band.

Appreciate the info. And it's a 2nd vehicle. I have a another silverado I dd. Only had this one out for a funeral for a friend in the custom truck world. Parked it once I got home. I've been talking with a few people about rebuilds and replacements. From the looks of it I'm going to have to wait until tax return time. I'm prolly going to put the winter wheels back on and just put it in the corner.
