Unhappy things aren't getting any better

who knows wtf is going on these days with my drivetrain.

As of today, regarding my Detroit Locker and the way these things are designed so that every so often the spring mechanism will unload(completely normal) however today it was so loud and hard in startled me I sure as **** hope this was just a wierd thing and not a problem. I may just have to start at the tranny and work my way back and bulletproof the whole dang setup.

first the driveline slop, then the tranny, now the rear end.............doesn't sound good

Back in the 60s Detroit Lockers were some of the noisest ill behaving differentials, they would ratchet, churp tires and lurch around corners, but they were dead reliable.Sounds like you've gone retro with your new differential.

the diff is approx a year old now, the locker is fairly compliant and I hardly ever notice it, however, yesterday it was VERY noticeable.

I've been contemplating going to an Eaton unit, although I really like the detroit locker I fear that when I'm away and the wife needs to use the truck it may not be the best choice for her, especially when the tires are spinning or when wet.
