How to tell what year th400 I have... code on tyranny is 87 l ja 41545, I read some where that the early 400s all ready have the up dated sp rag

 

I would say that its an 87 by what you posted. Take a picture of the tag you are referring to to get a better answer. On the sprag I would say its the other way around. That the later units would have the better sprag but both of which can be used with the direct drum. Obviously the more elements the better the holding capabilities it will have.
