A lot of people say Yank makes good converters too. I just ordered a Yank TT3000 after the lockup clutch in my TB TC failed (only after a couple thousand miles.) They're a little cheaper than the PI's too.

A lot of Yank customers here have had quite a few issues with their converters.
The PI converters seem to be the best out on the market. I guess that's why they are so expensive.
I don't mind paying extra for a top notch product.

So far i have about 26,034 miles on my TCI 3000 and around 50 passes at the track with no problems. But if i were to do it again i would go with a Yank or PI.

Ive seen more than a few. Few shops round here and in Missouri had a nice go-round with Yank not too long ago. Thus why I didnt buy a Yank and wont buy one.

Get what you pay for when it comes to a converter. Pay a little less, a little less goes into it. Crappy clutch linings, crappy front hub etc. Look at whats happened with some TCI verters. And I almost bought one. Im sure glad I didnt!

I just can't justify paying almost a thousand bucks for a TC. And $525 is not cheap by any means. I'm already going to have to pay for labor on my transmission to get it fixed and an additional $525 for the converter plus 2nd day shipping to get it there so I have my ride back ASAP. The way I look at is everyone has there own opinions on what they like, and I've heard good and bad things about both brands. So why wouldn't I go with the one that's slightly less?

Hes not really putting out real high hp, he should be fine. Foxy, in all the time I have been on here I havent seen anyone have a problem with their PI converter, no EVERY other converter that any truck guy has used on here they have had problems. TCI, Yank, Fuddle, Art Carr, etc etc, there have always been people posting about some sort of problem with them but not PI. Only thing I have seen is questions about how stiff the lockup is on the triple disks.

That's fine, but still... Everyone will have their opinions on what they think is best. I guess I will find out (for better or worse) with the Yank. Who knows, maybe I will hate it. I do know that with all the people that like the TB converter, it didn't last but 2000 miles- if that, on my truck.

On a side note, the reason you will hear MORE bad things about cheaper converters is because there's more on the market. People are more likely to pay less for a converter- hence more people have them, which only increases the chance that you will hear about problems.

I could just as easily make the statement that a higher percentage of Vigs/Yanks work without problems/failure, but without true facts and numbers, who is to say who is right?
