Default TC Flexplate Clearance

Okay guys just putting on the record here for any that might need it.

My stock converter to flexplate clearance is about 5/16" Everthing I've read says this should be an 1/8 to 3/16". I can just slide a 5/16" drill bit between the flexplate and mounting lug with tranny installed.
Flexplate mounting to block is about 7/8" Where I've read it should be.
Bellhousing edge to TC mounting lugs about 1 1/4" Everything I've read says this should be about 1".

I have had 3 TC in the floor measuring all dimensions that I could. All are within spec and within 1/1000's" to each other. (With exception of the bolt pattern) The important one for TC clearance is overall length. They are all at 6.6XX". 2 PI and my stocker. Yet when I install them they come up with above clearances.

I'm not shimming based upon the fact the truck has over 36K miles with stocker and about 500 miles with the first PI with about 5/16" clearance.

Questions that come to mind. Do I have a freak of manufacture? Is the clearance different for trucks? Info I have read on the net are for F-bodies and Monte Carlo. I know of 3 cases from this forum that have had similar clearance numbers. I'm a bit confused.
