Default T-56 and 4wd, stock transfer case.

if I figure out a way to put one in my truck with the 4wd I WILL do it. 4.56 gears front and rear and still a little lower rpm on the highway. awesome.

is there a way to do this? billet mount for the transfer case? there must be a way. any links?

If I remember correctly from all the other threads that have asked this, I think it has to do with the tailshaft? I tell you what though, I'm with you. I'd love to have a t56 4x4.

yes, its the tailshaft. as far as I have found, NOBODY has a t56/4wd vehicle.

if i must I will make a billet tailshaft with a trans case pattern and an output shaft. but I think it can be done with a billet adapter and output shaft only.

I WILL do this. if it takes me 2 years idk.

I did some research on this awhile back and came up with NOTHING. Nobody makes anything. I was told that if I wanted a T-56 4x4 that I would have to find someone to design and make all the parts custom.

Also, think about how it would work with the 4x4 electronics. How does 4wd know when you are in N to switch to low-range? How would it know after the swap?

funny, ford makes a falcon with a t56, and an AWD version of that car, but the AWD version uses a ZF tranny...

Good point...not sure how they work. Maybe the electronics could be borrowed from the 5-speed.

well... im most concerned with the mechanics of it right now. everything will fall into place after the trans is in the truck. when I get it done, I will definately sell some of the adapters to help with the cost. most likely have a run of 10 or so made at one time.

I believe to put a 4x4 with a 5 speed in low range you have to go under 3 mph and have the clutch pushed in (read the owners manual). As far as T-56+Transfer Case I'd go with a divorced setup. this means there is a shaft between the transmission and the transfer case. I don't see why it couldn't be done Jeeps use divorced transfer cases all the time.
