Suspension Tech Discussion
#1
I put this in this section because it will get the correct attention here.
Let's get an open tech discussion going on performance suspension setups for trucks. Please help me compile a list of available options and what your OPINION is on a good setup for the strip, street or both. As people give out more options I will add to this original post. Right now I know of people with the following setups cutting great 60' times.
Stock
Lowered 2/4
Lowered 3/5
Lowered 4/6
Caltracs
Ladder Bars
4 Link & Coilovers
One of the main questions that I have is does anyone think a torque arm setup like F-bodies use would be useful on a truck for cutting good 60' times?
Also in this discussion what is the purpose we are trying to achieve with our suspension setups? What would be the perfect scenario for the rear suspension for cutting great 60' times? Example: rear squatting, allowing the rear end to hook. Please feel free to throw out any and all ideas. If we get this big enough maybe we can get it stickied. The purpose of this is to create a thread with knowledgeable information on racing suspension setups for everyone to use as a tool and to show what options are out there. Thanks for any input that people provide

Four link + coil is going to allow for the most adjustment from my understanding. Hell, anything aside from the leaf springs is better. PLENTY of 60-80s era vehicles run STRONG on leaf springs with some sort of link... slapper, ladder, "caltrac" style links.
Don't know much about the drops, can't help there. Too many variables. Bags, no bags, notches, etc.
F-bodies need the torque arm to keep the axle from twisting. They only have two control arms and the panhard rod (pan is for side to side loading). Mustangs launch so-so as they have four control arms but they like to load up the RR BAD with big power so you have to counter that.
You can have drag shocks, springs, quick compress, slow rebound, etc, etc. Just depends how you want your street manners to hold up.
90% of the people on here would be fine with a Cal-trac style setup on stock rear springs.
