Default strange occurance

i had my truck in third and leaned into the throttle slowly to wide open. around 75-80 the rpms shot up, i dont think it hit the rev limiter, but it kind of sounded like that, like missing a gear with a manual.its almost liked it slipped out of gear, maybe it just slipped? ive been a lot harder on it and havent had anything like this happen. this is the second transmission, about 40k on it. this is all behind a puny 99 4.8 with intake and exhaust. anyway, i put it back in drive stomped on it a few times, and everything seems fine. any thoughts would be appreciated.

i was in a pinch and had to go to a local when the first one went out . when and if this one goes out ill definitely be getting a "built" transmission. ridiculous considering i cant even break the freakin tires loose,or tire...as it were.

150k. 1 year now behind modded 6.0

Also, I believe MANY built transmissions are not built well like GM builds them. This is my only explanation why many built transmissions fail faster than the stock tranny. Best bet is to go with a sponsor from here with a great reputation

ive been out there sniffing the fluid, doesnt smell burnt, but then again ive never smelled burnt transmission fluid. i pulled the dipstick on my grand marquis for a comparison, its fluid looks like motor oil and has a different smell(suprisingly still runs, been likee that forever now)and i compared it to fresh fluid. i dont even know what im sniffing for.just hoping that i didnt fry this thing already.

Check the fluid level make sure its at top of hash mark or a little above when warm. These trans are very sensitive to low fluid when cold
