IMO, the g80 isn't quite as bad as it's cracked up to be. There are definitely better options, but as long as you beat on it in a straight line, they aren't too bad, if you do burnouts around corners, that will destroy it pretty quick. I beat the **** out of my stock rear in my crew cab with a 6.0/blower and later 6.0/turbo for a LONG time and it never broke. I would give it everything youve got the way it is, 2wd/slicks and spray.

I think if you're using a Trans brake you should be more worried about your axle.
The TSP 224r isn't to big for the 5.3? Like is it fun to drive around town?
Like you actually feel it when you do turns? Sorry for so many questions i wanna get a locker, i'm tired of a open diff

Maybe, kinda sorta. Depends on the condition and miles on the unit. I would run far away from Auburn LSD's, they have a tendency to expire more quickly than you want them too and you get to throw the whole carrier away versus just being able to rebuild it.
Most here and I find on any forum recommend the Trutrac by Eaton. I personally don't because I see no use for a torque biasing unit in something that you will never road race. I like both my tires locked together, not some thing that shifts torque back and forth depending on load, or is supposed to. I am no fan, put it that way.
Good old clutch pack Eatons work great. If it's too loose, put the 800 lb springs in it and it's pretty well a locker. The 400's are probably good enough for most people. Yeah you can burn them up like an Auburn but at least it's just a set of friction discs you can swap out of the thing and not have to replace it entirely.
Detroit Lockers or the lunchbox style like the Powertrax are usually kinda harsh for a lot of people. I like a locked rear end myself, but I don't account for most people. Yes they let you turn but they click and if it's slippery it won't want to unlock at all. Shouldn't be a huge deal in Texas though.
I don't know you or your driving style. No one on here can tell you what you want, just what to expect and from that you pick what you want to live with. I like lockers or really tight LSD's, but the next guy would freak out and flip his truck in a snow storm with one. Different strokes........
