My friend has a 2015 Ford 2.7 ecoboost that he walked me in before I did the 3200 stall. But it still feels like he will hand me my ***. Will gears help me any or should I just deal with the truck being a turd?
4.10's will fell like you added 100hp over those 3.23.
You will wonder why you waited so long to do it.

So you have a 4.8 AND 20in wheels?

Those 20s take HP to turn them. With 410s that Ecoboost will still probably outrun you. Sorry, it is what it is.

Before I dumped any money into the 4.8, I'd swap it for a 6.0 or go turbo.

This is my dilemma right now. I can't decide if I want to turbo the 4.8 or go 6.0 and boost it later down the road.

To the OP, I'm running 3:90's right now, and I think 4:10's would have been the better choice.

The ecoboost truck ended up running 14.9-15.0 @ 93 MPH. Supposedly went one 14.7 pass, but I never saw the slip. I told him at least 4.10s, pushing him towards 4.56s. His tires measured closer to 32" tall. I am going to have a small cam to stick in the 4.8 next year. (Upgrading to something bigger in my LQ4) Camshaft and 4.56 gears should wake it the hell up.

It cost extra for the odd 4.30 gear compared to the 4.10's and 4.56's. But I think I will have to spend the extra money and split the difference. I would do a engine swap or a turbo but I'm trying to restore a 1966 Fairlane 390 4sp car and I don't want to go crazy with the truck at this point. When the Fairlane is done I will probably go the turbo route and hopefully the 4.30's wont be to much.

Can you tell me more about the LS2. Is it an actual aluminum LS2 block. I love how affordable they are for a new block and dropping around 100lbs is a plus. What all did you do? what kind of cost? tips? problems?
