Default Still has shitty idle intermittantly !!

After installing my performabuilt level 2 and 9.5 inch 2800 stall by performabuilt I get an intermittant idle problem. If I come to a hard stop or pull into my parking space fast at work it dies or gets damn close to dying. The engine idles up and down for about 3 or 4 times or about 20 seconds of surging.

I had a post about this a few weeks ago when I 1st had the tranny put in and Wheatley chimmed in and said I needed a retune. Got the retune and its better but it still does it once about everytime I drive it. This **** is embarrasing and I need some help fixing this. Anyone have any ideas?

it almost sounds like your LTFT's and STFT's may be out of line. mine did something similar, and my throttle body blade wasnt sealing as it should be. i cleaned the blade inside and outside edges, then had my LTFT's checked, and they were off, causing a weird idle and it would die when i shifted to reverse at low RPM.

couldnt hurt to check... those fuel trims play a vital role in idle quality.

It probably is not his LTFT/STFT, IMO it is his LTIT and STIT (Idle trims), I bet your idle airflow table needs to be tweeked....

i guess? i am sure i dont know half as much as you about the tuning, i am more into the wrench spinning and horsepower building aspect. i just knew that the fuel trims and idle trims played a role in his problem, and a dirty throttle body blade that wont seal correctly can also contribute.

i dont think it is a stall or tranny issue though, IMO.

I am still learning too, I could be wrong, but I had a similar problem and that is what solved it...

i wonder if he is using a mail order tune?

that could be another problem, not being able to see what is going on when he idles... i think he just need an experienced tuner to do a live tune and twerk it out.

If you're running a different size converter than stock, I'd imagine it would change the amount of rotating mass that the engine has to compensate for, which means that your idle ariflow tables would be off. My guess is like what BlackGMC said....I bet you need to tweak on those tables.

I already had it tweaked once. Grrrr this pisses me off. Nice truck I've spent all this money on and the bitch dies. Maybe I'll just wait till the Whipple goes on and get a tune in person.

I have the same problem. Hell I even have EFI Live. I'm just too lazy to go outside and fix it.
