Ok I need some input..
I am in a similar boat with needing rotors for my setup

it is kinda a custom deal nothing to outrageous I dont think
It uses the z06 c6 calipers all the way around on 99 up trucks
You use a 15 inch rotor on the front 14 inch on the rear

So after reading your thread, and being turned off by the price of the baer rotors and then reading about the cracking issues and not lasting I emailed SSBC.

Now read what I typed and tell me if I am doing something wrong or it is on the other end of this conversation.

I am going to make my replys red and his blue for ease of figuring out who is who

COMMENTS: Hello I saw a message posted on a forum about replacement rotors. I am doing a custom brake setup. and baer makes the rotors but i heard the quality versus price isnt all that good rotors tend to crack. the setup uses the c6 z06 calipers and then you use a 15 inch rotor on the front and a 14 inch rotor on the rear. I am not sure what size rotors you currently make for our trucks and would be interested in learning more and hopefully ordering some rotors from you. I can send some pics of a completed setup. I also was curious about getting plain rotors no cross drilling or slotting unless there is a benefit besides looks?

This is the info I found, no part number or rotor dimensions other then diameter and thickness. Is there a particular section to look in to find detailed specs and part numbers and prices?

Dave let me try again in basic terms

YOU SELL THE KITS ON YOUR WEBSITE

I JUST NEED THE ROTORS NOTHING ELSE NO RELOCATION KITS ETC

SO IF YOU SELL THE KITS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE ROTORS WEAR OUT

THROW THE WHOLE THING AWAY OR DO YOU SELL REPLACEMENT ROTORS?

IF IT ALL POSSIBLE I NEED THE PART NUMBERS FOR THE ROTORS

PRICES EACH FOR THE ROTORS

AND IT WOULD BE NICE IS A BASIC MEASUREMENT FROM BACKSIDE OF THE ROTOR WHERE IT TOUCHES THE HUB/AXLE TO THE BACK SIDE OF THE ROTOR WHERE THE PADS RIDE SO I CAN SEE IF THEY WILL WORK WITH MY SETUP.

I emailed bob as well since the guy that told me to email you guys had talked to him if you do not feel like dealing with it.

THANKS

Dave seems like a grade-A douchenozzle. But also, you do not seem to have a gift for expressing yourself clearly either.

Okay, today I installed the new rotors. I also have more information to report which will be useful to baer brake owners.

I was never particularly impressed with the baer pads. They seemed to dust quite a bit, but they didnt have great braking performance like most performance pads that dust a lot. Kind of like the worst of both worlds. I wanted replacement pads, but baer only offered the one version of pad, and they cost $89 per axle. Ugh.

I also own a corvette and I got to looking at the calipers and comparing them to my baer...come to find out the baer alumasport calipers are almost identical to c5 corvette front calipers. They are both made by the same company "PBR". The inlet holes for the brake lines are moved about two inches, and there is a hole in the center of the vette calipers that the baer's dont have, but other than that they look identical. I bet you could even use corvette calipers in place of the baer calipers...maybe some members should look into buying the baer brackets and then use corvette calipers.

Knowing that the calipers were corvette, I also wondered if the pads and hardware/clips were corvette. So I compared them and found out that c5 corvette front pads will also work with the baer kit. The only issue is that, due to the baer rotors not having the hole in the middle that the vette calipers have, there is a tab in the middle of the vette pads that have to be cut off in order for them to fit under the baer calipers.

Being able to use corvette pads opens your options up tenfold in terms of pad manufacturer and material. I chose to go with OEM GM durastop ceramic pads, since I run chrome 24's and brake dust is my biggest concern.

The c5 corvette front hardware/clips that go between the pads and the abutment brackets also works with the baer kit. They have to be modified very slightly by cutting off a tab, but it literally takes 10 seconds per clip. This was good for me too since the clips on my baer brackets were getting kind of shitty, and one was broken.

The SSBC rotors clear the baer brackets fine. The front brackets do come a little close to the corner of the rotors, and in a couple of spots I did just a minor bit of grinding on the bracket for extra clearance. IT wasn't really necessary but I did it just to feel better. The rear brackets seemed to have more room and I did not make any modifications. The brackets (and thus the calipers) do not sit perfectly centered on the rotors, but they are only about 1/8" off center which is no big deal and there is plenty of clearance on each side.

So I can confirm that:

-SSBC rotors are suitable substitutions for baer front and rear, however you will want to check rotor to bracket clearance and grind if necessary
-baer alumasport rotors (front and rear) are similar to/nearly identical to c5 corvette front calipers
-c5 corvette front brake pads are suitable substitutions for baer pads AFTER you trim the tab off in the center top of each pad...takes about 1-2 minutes per pad.
-c5 corvette front hardware/clips are suitable substitutions for baer clips after you trim off the tab in the center of them.

I have pics of this I will upload later.

I havent driven the truck yet as I plan to do some more repair work to the drivetrain while it is on stands, but I will report any further issues when driving if they arise.

brakes seem to work awesome, but I havent really put my foot down yet, still bedding them in slowly.

I did have to take the rear calipers back off and cut a little more off of the hardware clips, as they were rubbing the rotors slightly and making noise. Now everything is perfect and silent.

to break in brakes properly you need to basically beat on them a few times then let them completely cool, not just easily use them....

FYI the chrysler 500 brake pads fit with not mods at all and zero brake dust. Possibly cheaper than Vette pads......since its not a Vette.

Yeah, I did that (per instructions) with the baer rotors, and look how that worked out. 40k and almost broken in half. No thanks, I will take my chances with a few more gentle heat cycles progressing in intensity.

Good info. Vette pads were not bad, especially considering they are ceramics. I got them for $73 per axle. OF course I could have gotten non-ceramic and non-GM pads for half that. The good thing about the vette pads is they open up tens of pad compositions and manufacturers for those of us who want to choose specific behavior (noise or not; dust or not; initial bite, fade, etc.).

Are you using Vette calipers, too, or just the pads?

Vette pads, minus the center clip, will slide right into the Baer calipers? Does this apply to front and back?
