Using the starter bolts & sliding back the trans works with 4x4's also, just gotta remove both shafts, and more weight sliding the t-case & trans back together. Saves quite a bit of time.

How did those flexplates crack? Quick torque from a blower..?

Not sure. I've never seen a single broken one on anything LS powered. Only the old small-block stuff. If I had to guess, I'd guess loose bolts..... I'm sure that will **** off alot of guys..... Flame suit on!! Butt-hurt reports are ready to hand out!

All the bolts were tight on the one I replace. The 6.0 was pulled & a 4.8 took it's place 8 months before the flexplate broke. So maybe that GM has a updated version, maybe it has something to do with the design idk

Mine is 100% stock and has never been off. truck has 156K on it.

GM did update the flexplate. Look at photos above.

I replaced this flexplate back in June or so w/ the suggested GM part.
It cracked again. Less than 5000 miles or there abouts.
What are my non-OEM options.
Truck is stock except a mild shift kit for the 1-2 shift, and bumped up line preasure. I tow a large enclosed trailer, so we wanted the shifts quick to save the clutches.
I'm wondering if it is the 1-2 shift that is cracking them. I really don't want to do this again, so I want to be sure I fix it right this time.

I had the same thing happen...TWICE, first one I paid for and the next one the shop that did the job paid for it, Theres some dowel pins they didn't line up or didn't even put back in and the new one cracked in less then a 1000 miles.

I was scared there for a while, but once the tone changed from different loads I narrowed it down.
