Default softening 1-2 shift with shift kit over time?

hey guys

i got all the problems straightend out with the soft 2-3 shift after shift kit install when i did my tune

i used 2 accumulator washers, and the 1-2 shift was obnoxious to the point where i wanted to take out 1 washer, now over the past couple weeks i havent been able to pull the pan ive been busy but noticed that its softened up alot. ive put about 800 miles on it now with the trans go HD shift kit, both servos, and TQMGT removed

is this normal for it to soften? its not slipping, its still a crisp shift when driving unless you got WOT then it shifts nice and hard- befor it shifted hard all the time and got annoying

thanks

I've heard people say over time, it's soften out. Still waiting on mine. Of course, I keep having other stuff break since the HD2 install.

Do you have your desired shift time table zeroed out in your tune? If not the PCM will adjust the shift timing to get back closer to the stock settings, which may be why you're feeling it soften.

Unless you quicken the shift timings up, your shifts will soften.

The band could be wearing, cracked accumulator or spring and also a sticky accumulator valve all can be a cause for this. Vince

I had a bit of discoloration, but only noticed when I dropped the pan. I was told it was clutch material. I wouldn't rule out band wear. I would think that if the 2-3 shift is noticeably firm, and the 1-2 & 3-4 are softer than normal, would that be a reasonable assumption of band wear? I ask b/c that seemed like it happened when mine felt as if it softened up. Kept on driving, and it eventually wore enough to not engage 2nd or 4th (skipped from 1st to 3rd & no OD).

I have seen good looking fluid and bands still be skidded. Also keep in mind that these things wear and stretch. When this happens the adjustment changes. Also the band anchor area and volcano area can be effected as well causing a looser band.

its not that the 1-2 is completely soft and the 2-3 is firm

they are both about the same

the 1-2 used to snap your neck, and the 2-3 just felt firmer than stock

now all the shifts feel the same- just like the 2-3 used to- they all feel a little firmer than stock

everything is shifting ontime- no banging, no discolored fluid, no slippage, no codes

it just feels softer than it did right after i did the shift kit- servos- and put the 2 accumulator washers in.

i acualy like it better- its not obnoxious like it was- all the shifts are firm- i was just wondering what would cause the quick change in shift feel

i gotta drop the pan anyway to fix my manual linkage, when i do that ill check out the accumulators- i also did the aluminum accumulator pistons- so i dont think one of them cracked
