Is your master cylinder loose in the engine bay? The master fits into the bracket and then rotates 45* to lock into place, and this is where many break.

These clutch pedal brackets are just weak plastic and after a lot of miles/years/shifts, many give way and you have to end up replacing the clutch pedal assembly and then fab up a metal plate to support the plastic.

Nah, you don't have to put in a new clutch if you just swap the slave. In fact you don't even have to touch the clutch to swap the slave. Depending on how many miles are on your truck/clutch, it may be worth the peace of mind to you to put in a whole new clutch and slave just so you don't have to get back in there in another 20k miles or something, but that is up to you.

But odds are, especially considering the incredible lack of torque these 4.8's put out, unless you've been abusing the hell outta your clutch, you'll be fine just installing a new slave and calling it a day. If in fact that turns out to be the issue though.
