And i dont think a transgo will fix it. Its still gonna shift when the pcm commands it too. although it will be harder.

The TransGo HD2 kit will let you hold any gear at any RPM, reguardless of speed. You can do this with a completly stock tune

search the transmission section on here, or check out HPTuners. It's on both sites.

Using the TransGo is the better way to have it, vs getting it tuned to hold 1st gear.

I already have a built tranny, dont really want to change to another shift kit. I have not found anything from a search to tune it to stay in low gear when commanded in low gear

goto www.hptuners.com

search for "command gear" or "gear command"

A transgo WILL fix this. It basically turns it into a full manual setup whenever the shifter is not in (D). If its in 3, it will start in 3rd gear 1:1. 2nd gear 1.48, and so on (assuming its a 4l80 lol) And you can also back/down shift whenever you want too. I know before If I wanted to engine brake behind someone on the interstate doing like 85 and I pulled it into 2nd it would only backshift into 3rd until it slowed down to 80, then hang on tight because that band tightened around the drum and engaged second and about thew you thru the windshield. Thats an added benefit of the HD2 kit.

On the plus side...or maybe not plus, but kinda cool> The part about the PCM dicking out on you and upshifting for you even though you have it in first, If you take manual first all the way up to like 4 or 5,000rpm and back off the throttle a tiny bit for a second or so, to get the pcm to see the reduced throttle position/load, it will force-upshift into 2nd and chirp the tires. :-P
