shifter wont center
#1
Ive got a 5spd nv3500. When the clutch gave out the shifter fell to the left and wont retain to the center. Are there springs or detents that could have failed? Anyone have any advice on how to go about this? Thanks

Been trying to do some more digging.
Heres a link to the tranny diagram: NV3500 Interior/Exterior Breakdown
The diagram doesnt have a parts list to match the numbers to determine the part names and the pictures are a little hard to determine. On some other threads ive found they all have different replys. Some say there is a centering spring in the shift tower, some say the "springs" are in the synchros inside the tranny, one post said shifter/roll pin. Another thing ive read is some of the shift towers have detents and others dont. Im not sure if this a detent issue. From what i understand the detent keeps the shifter effectively in the horizontal neutral line of shift pattern. If it's missing, you could tend to drag the tooth of the shift guide block against the gate walls of the shift guide plate. This sounds more like a guide than something that would retain in back to the center. Im going with the spec 2+ clutch and would like to take care of this issue while the tranny is out. Its makes finding third gear a pain and almost impossible to quick shift with it like this. Cmon tranny gurus show me some love lol
