Default servo problems

my buddy ordered this servo Superior Transmission - Superior K012 and I helped him put it in. now it wont shift into second it just skips to 3rd. but when we downshift into 2nd and get on it it starts slipping??? it says u need 1/16th play in the band but no more than an 1/8th and it came with a lil cap looking thing to add to the pin but how can i tell if I needs adjusting or do I need to add that cap to the servo pin??

Did those o rings get damaged when you put it back together? That could cause the wacko shifts your talking about.

Make sure that you have all the washers, shims, and clips in the correct locations. If you used this with an aftermarket 4th servo you might want to check band clearance to make sure the band is adjusted properly.

The way you would check band clearance with the trans in the vehicle would be see how far you can push the 4th cover into the trans. If it is more than 1/8-1/4" I think it is to much. If you did not have an issue with slipping in second before one of two things have to be going on here. The obvious is the band clearance or the correct assembly of the servo assemblies. One thing you can do if using the factory 4th servo is to flip the servo piston in the cover. This will help tighten up the band clearance. If using an aftermarket 4th servo you can use a longer pin, add a thicker washer between the "e" on the pin and the 4th piston or use the Transgo gold shims between the 2nd and 4th covers to tighten up the band.
