Default Ring and Pinion

I'm trying to find new gears to put in my 2000 silverado but I can't find any info on what my truck actually has for front and rear differential. It's a 10 bolt rear and it has IFS. What is the ring size in the rear and the front? Does anyone know of any links that can identify what set up is in stock vehicles? Any help would be great.

PM Torque_Wrench or chevracer83 and give them your vin#. I have the 2000 4wd silverado, it came with the 3.73's. Torque_Wrench has a good hook up with a gear guy for new GM gears. It'll floor you what he charges for spicer gears.

The rear gears will be 41-11 teeth and the IFS will be 41-11 as well I do believe (3.73:1 ratio)

Look in your glove box. There is sticker on there with a bunch of 3 character codes in alpha order. Look for the "G" codes.

You should see the following:

G80 - Factory POS Locking Diff.

and either

GU6 - 3.42 gears
GT4 - 3.73 gears

I'd say you have the 3.73's in both diff.'s

Your actuall ring gear size will be the 8.50 inch ring gear. UNless you got a 1500HD which usues a 9.50 inch gear.
