Question Rhythmic scrubbing noise...brakes?

Help guys,
I am hearing a faint rhythmic scrubbing sound as of last nite coming from my silverado. Its only noticeable when coasting thanks to Flowmaster exhaust. The truck has 87K on original brakes. In addition I just noticed that my rarely used parking brake now fails to hold the truck stopped when its in gear.
Please throw me some knowledge guys.
Thanx

It could be a number of things....

I had the same problem on mine a while ago and it turned out to be a loose cap that covers the axle nut in the front (In the center of the brake rotor/hub assembly). I replaced it with a new one and had no problems. It only cost like $2 for a new one.

It could be a number of things with brakes like: Warped rotors, warn pads or cheap pads, or a lack of lube on the caliper guide pin bolts.

I would check those areas first to see whats going on.

My parking brake does the same thing, so let me know if you find a solution. I haven't really tried anything on mine yet though.

Hope this helps.

There's some good info on the parking brake problem in this thread
https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...=parking+brake

Mine used to be the same, complained enough to the dealer that they ended up replacing a bunch of stuff while the truck was still under warranty. Been working fine since then, like 2 years ago.

My truck made that noise too before I changed the brake pads. Of course it'll also make that sound if the lug nuts aren't tightened down all the way.
