Remove the outer tie rod end
Loosen the lower ball joint nut - 1/2 way
hit the lower control arm / spindle with a BFH
the spring pressure will knock the ball joint loose
or many guys use a pickle fork - careful not to split the boot
once the ball joint is loose - remove the nut with a jack under the control arm
with a jack under the lower control arm and a jack stand under the truck frame
lower the jack under the control arm - very slowly - release the spring pressure
once the spring pressure is released you may have to push down on the lower control arm to get the spring out. - not hard - just release the spring pressure easy.

easy
have a good jack stand under the frame - get the truck in the air
have a good jack under the lower control arm.
lower it down very slowly - there is a pressure on that spring.
You can switch out springs in about 30 mins a side - but take your time
