Default remove overload leaf spring?

Well im trying to get a small additional drop in the rear and wondering if there are any ill effects of removing the overload leaf springs? Doesnt seem like they're being used at all but a friend of mine said removing them would mess up drivability, if so can someone explain why?

Im planning on adding ICON front coilover system and rear shocks while im at it.

I already did shackles, and took off the rear lift block, any suggestions for an additional 2 inches of drop in the rear without doing a flip kit?

Dont do it. It will make the rear of the truck very bouncy.

But adding cal tracs stiffens the rear. So with out it, itll bounce.

I've removed the overload leaf and installed Cal-Tracs on 3 different trucks. They are all DD's, and they ride just fine, and handle better than before. And I still haul loads and tow trailers with my own truck set up this way.

If the OP removes the overload leaf without adding a traction bar of some type, he should end up with a spring-wrap problem that will give him wheel hop. Traction bars fix that problem.

ok guys its worth mentioning that I have the rear bumper removed, spare tire removed and the trailer hitch as well so the rear has no weight it ended up raising itself quite a bit and has a VERY stiff ride.

like i said im swapping out the fronts for coilovers and rear shocks, is there ANY way I could lower the rear without doing a flip kit?

I took the overload and spacer out when i installed my cal tracs. The truck never rode better. The back end doesnt jump around like it did before when I hit a dip.
