you can use red on everything, if you don't want it to be stuck permanently just use a little bit then and don't saturate the threads.

LOL same here. Doesn't seem too permanent to me bc I've removed and reinstalled plenty of bolts that I had originally installed with red. I don't load the threads up until it is dripping off though either.

All you have to do is tighten the bolt a bit before you remove them and even red will break free...or a good tap with the hammer.

But yeah...if its threaded aluminum...the threads are toast.

Oh yeah, I have both used loc-tite and not used it on just about everything. Never any ill effects, but it was in non racing applications, just daily drivers.

I bolt my intake bolts down with red and have yet to have problems. Maybe I'm just lucky or stupid...probably the latter.

Talking Years

I have used both through the years ... i went to a seminar on this stuff back in the day...around the time when i went to a seminar for H.E.I. distributor systems .....lmao back in the early to mid 70's....dam i m get'in some years on.... i have all ways used red in moderation and never had issues....but with other metals besides "iron based" it does have some i'll effects....just my past experience...i use blue on the less "iron type stuff" and red on more "iron type stuff".... lots of good info here on this...and yes it is all ways a good idea to try to ever so slightly tighten any fastener before you try to remove it....just my old fogies humble opinion. ...or input...but WHAT DO I KNOW.. im twidling my thumbs fart'n around with a 4l60e trans prob right now.. and also replacing a lower unit on a 250 hp evinrude outboard motor at the same time........LMAO...PEACE

We send our converter out with blue 242 Medium Strength. I think it is strong enough to do the job, but still be removed easily. I have a few guys who have used the red and it was a little harder to remove, but no big problems.
