rear end swap
#1
I will appologize up front if I am beating a dead horse here. I have spent some time searching and reading some posts on the site about switching rear ends. I have a 2002 GMC 2500HD with the 10.5 FF that has finally went south on me. I would like to put in the AAM 11.5 FF. Has anyone done this or do you know of anyone that has done this swap? The 10.5 in my 2005 yukon xl went out last month, the stealership fixed that one under warranty. Thanks for your time and help.

I have seen a lot of 10.5 fail. The one in my 05 was due to the spider gears and clutch pack going out. The one in my 02 is the bearings and the clutch pack. I have also noticed that when I make a turn on pavement my rear tires are hopping, and no it's not in 4 wheel drive. Almost like the pack has welded together, which wouldn't be all bad just the noise from the bearings is driving me crazy.

I haven't heard of anyone swapping to the 11.5" before. I have an Eaton LSD for sale that may solve your spider gear failure problems https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...=easton+lsd+14.

That's a pretty good deal. Will it fit the 11.5? One of the guys over on diesel place said that a member over here done the swap but I could't find the thread on it. Everything should bolt up. I am wondering about the drive shaft and u-joints.
