Default Rear end questions

I blew my G80 last night, and am in a bind. I realise the carriers are different than the open diff, but will the spider gears from an open carrier work so I can have RWD? Also when I get my new carrier (used G80 to limp by or Eaton) do I just need to slap the gears and bearings on and use the same shims and bolt it back up, or do you have to go through the whole set up process just swapping the carrier? Thanks guys.

Not sure about the spider gears. But most have just used the old shims with a new carrier. I would still check back lash, and the contact pattern! Also Replace the pinion nut if you pull the pinion shaft.
