Rear end problems
#21
I broke mine in properly 30 min cool downs for 500 miles. Pulled it apart, changed oil, checked all clearances, and they were dead on. No noise or problems here. Mine did get pretty warm the first drive. I wonder if yours got overheated the first run.
Also make sure the caps are tightened down when you are checking back lash. I would check this as soon as you pull the cover off to see what it is at.

If you have the gears done again, make sure to record the settings:
Pinion Depth
Pinion Bearing Pre-Load
Backlash
Carrier bearing pre-load also has to be sufficient.
Look in the stickies, I did a gear install how-to that covers all of this. If your buddy does your gears again. Take the how-to and use it as check list.

Yeahh thts what I thought I jus don't understand how the break in period can mess them up if they wernt hard enough. Like if you bought a brand new car ppl don't break those gears in you see where going with this? He might jus be covering for his mistake but it's all done and fixed so I guess I can't complain
