Default Radix and 4L80E

On a 2004 GMC 2500 HD 6.0L 4wd auto (4L80E) the programming does not do anything to tranny. I can not get a custom tune or anything so there tune is all I can use. I don't really want to open the tranny up, maybe for a shift kit at most. Tranny just had a flush with Amsoil and filter. This is used for towing and daily driving, absolutely not for fun or racing. I am worried most shift kits are designed for racing not towing. What are you guys doing to your 4L80E to ensure they last. By the way, the towing version of Magnacharger is 2.0 lbs less boost.

The Transgo hd2 kit for the 80E is what you need. What do you mean you can not get a tune for your truck?

I can not get a custom tune where I live. Would have to drive it 7 hours to nearest major center.

Have you heard of leaving the shift kit alone and going with corvette servo's? Is this more for racing or for towing also. Thanks

Get the HD-2 and leave the tune alone. All it will they will do (mostly) is increase the line pressure, which is worse, not better, for the trans. If the HD-2 for the 80 is anything like it is for the 60, you'll be real happy with the performance, but if it is 90% for towing then just be sure to give it the lightest shift possible.

Can you get vette servos for an 80?..

According to a dealer that is trying to sell me a Radix Supercharger you can get them. I just really want feedback with people using the 80E for towing and not just racing. I do understand the line pressure issue you are reffering to. My local tranny guy says installing a shift kit does nothing because the computer will just adjust back to stock anyways. I did talk to Transgo and they said he is wrong.

I guess torque managment is done by the stock programming and with custom tunes? Have you eliminated it?

To answer you question about the corvette servo, the answer is NO. The corvette servo is for 60E.
