Default Pushing power through the converter?

Can someone explain how and why a converter does this? Where the pushed energy goes? Ect.. ect.. I searched and couldnt find a real explanation..

Extra power just goes to heat, ie, efficiency goes way down. There has to be enough resistance of the fluid path in the converter to adequately load the engine. How do you know how much resistance to make (via turbine shape, etc.)....well that is why you need to know what kind of power level you are dealing with when specing a converter. Think of it as a balance between power and resistance...too much resistance and you get a low stall, too much power and you push through the converter.
