push button 4wd
Ok guys I converted my rcsb from push button 4wd to Awd and kind miss being able 2 play n 2wd. I was wonder what the push button t-case could handle and if I would need 2 kick it out o 4 hi once I got out so far.thanx
Also is there like a oil clip upgrade like I did in the nvg149 that's n my truck now
Trever1t pushed 600+rwhp and 700+rwtq through his autotrac case soooo....
If your gonna do it i would get a non autotrac case... |
I was going 2 just use my factory t-case which has the auto 4wd.
over 700 rwhp/rwtq on my push button auto-trac and still going.
yep, plenty of power here as well.
Sweet do u guys run all the way n 4 hi or kick it out
all the way!
I always try to get it back into 2wd but trying to reach that button while pulling G's is difficult ;)
I have to disengage 4wd after I'm fairly deep into 2nd. |
Well I was just worried bout breaking sumthing by trying 2 kick it out of 4wd on the fly at wot.
ive always heard in 1/4 just to leave it in??
Hum I haven't really heard much is y I am asking.lol

So u guys that disengage do this at wot?
of course!
Haha just making sure.lol thanx
Mine doesn't seem to want to disengage under load. It comes out of 4 when I let off usually.
Hum that's no good. Do u have the auto trac case
There seems to be some debate as to whether the 4wd will disengage at WOT when you hit the button, some time after you launch (like deep 2nd as Bill does). Some guys have reported that theirs stays locked in until they lose some throttle angle, while others report that it disengages shortly after they hit the button (how they know that it's actually disengaged is beyond me, I'm assuming that the truck feels like there's less drag on it or something).
I'm curious now...I have the push button auto 4x4, and have been wanting to convert to AWD for some time now (just because it's cool and different, and I like the handling aspect of it). Unfortunately, my money situation is bad, and it looks like it will be quite some time before I can mod anything. But anyway...is one better than the other? Seems like guys around here have pushed some major power through both the NVG-149 as well as the AutoTrak selectable t-case...are they both basically comparable as far as how much abuse they can handle, or is one stronger than the other?

I can definitely tell when I get it back into 2wd...seems to be hit and miss with some trucks being able and others not.

What's your opinion on which T-case is "better" bud? You have the AutoTrak like mine and your truck rocks...makes me think that I should just stick with my current drivetrain and fix what's broken in it. It will be less money and less hassle than going AWD :hmmm: |
Yeah, pedal down hard and it will disengage. One time it didn't or I forgot :P and as I got over 110mph I really knew I was still in 4hi
As far as hardware I could tell you. |
yeh you can tell. 4wd is just rough feeling and as Bill says when you get to 100MPH and then crack 110 it feels like you are breaking into the atmosphere from space. I floor it from the line and never let out.
I read some torque specs on these units a while back and they are just ridiculously high. I would never, ever go to awd. 2wd is too much fun and when shit gets serious 4wd is a blessing. |

the only debate concerning running in 4wd that I see as a questionable ordeal is running in auto or 4wd in the 1320. Plenty on here use auto but i have broken my setup with auto (not at the track though). Hell I haven't used auto since 2005. 2wd or 4wd only for me.
Agree. Never use the auto except in heavy rain or snow. Launching in auto would put a tremendous shock on it.
Wow this is all great info didn't expect 2 get this much feed bak thanx alot guys. But I have no compliants with the Awd other then playing in 2wd when ever u want is fun. But it is nice 2 pull out n traffic and not have 2 worry bout spinning if I really need 2 get on it. I am sure u guys know what I am talking bout.lol

This is good info! I know some diesel that leave in 4wd when at the track. As far as auto I'm not sure if I have ever even put mine in auto haha
