Default problematic 4L60E...

ok so i have been having issues with my tranny shifting right at the track, but on my way to work the other day, i lost 4th. so i drove it to / from work (50 miles each way), and then yesterday i was getiing on the road to go home and gradually lost all gears with in 5 miles... well i had it towed to the shop and today before they put it on the lift they said that it drove...???... im confued.

Are you sure you lost forth gear or did you loose the lockup on the TC, and then the TC finally died taking the rest of the tranny with it? I know when my tranny is cold the TC does not lock up and it seems like it is in 3rd gear... Just a thought.

Sucks to here thou...

well i thought about the TC, i dont think its the lockup because it doesnt even stall up like it wants to shift into 4th is just never got higher thatn 3rd.and everything has been running fine and then suddenly not, except for at the track and i cant get into 3rd a WOT. the tranny fluid was alittle burnt, so the transmision is under warantee but the guy was just going to swap it out for the same one but a new... but he got it to drive he said so hes going to replace the filter and see how it does. im just having a hard time seeing it drive after it stopped driving...

It happens alot, something goes out and sends metal/clutch debri through the whole thing. Which clogs the filter and will eventually not go into gear. If it sits for awhile, the filter will unclog, and will be drivable for awhile. Changing the filter isn't going to do anything.
