Default Parking brake question..

I have a question regarding my e brake, it works perfect but when I dis-engage it, it'll slam up against the bottom of the dash so loud you can hear it from outside the truck..

I've set my friends e brake in his 2003 silverado and a couple at work in some 2007's and what not. I haven't found one other that does this..any body got a solution to this.

It's a little annoying, I've tried putting rubber to soften the blow but to no avail..

My parking brake doesn't even work. You can push it to floor with no resistance.

Yea, mine is a 2003 and does it too. Could pull it for weight reduction I guess. Make a sweet parking brake pedal dampener

just don't set it so hard. mine's a 5 speed, so i use it all the time. if i crank it to the floor, it sounds like it's gonna rip up through the dash when i release it - but if i set it just tight enough to hold, it only has a moderate thump when it releases.

Cooder - look at the cable that runs down the frame under the driver's door. it's probably just loose at the tensioning bracket where it pulls the cables that run to the rear
