Default Overfilled Tranny

Quick question for ya'll.

My tranny was running fine. I put in a bottle of Lucas Transmission somethin or another. Supposed to help minimize slippage and cause the tranny to shift harder and more agressive.

When I check the fluid levels its actually about 2 inches high! Can this damage my tranny? I was told it doesn't really matter cause its not an airtight system and will just put the excess fluids inside the dipstick area.

I'm kinda curious cause when accelerating slow and at low speeds the truck kinda acts confused as to what gear it wants to put it in. Sometimes I feel it doesn't wanna do anything until I put the pedal down a little harder to force a downshift. But then it goes TO FAST for what I'm trying to do (go slow).

ALSO! I went to a chevy dealer and talked with one of the service mechs and he told me he knows of a shift kit that can help minimize tourque converter slippage and cause the tranny to shift really agressive. Told me it would be 40 bucks for the kit and 100 for labor.

I would drain it alittle, too much oil will cause heat, trans turns into a big pump.

are you checking it properly? if so i would drain some. oh yea trans additives suck. there is always a buy product of an additive. like clutch seperation....Etc...my opinion run standard trans fluid (whatever it may be)

Overfilling the tranny can cause the fluid to aerate(sp?) which can cause the fluid to overheat and toast the tranny...personally I'd drain a little and get it into spec. Usually though, if the trans is overfilled, the excess fluid will end up blowing out the vent tube and spraying the undercarriage of your truck. You can usually spot when this happens by noticing a big cloud of bluish/whitish smoke in your rear view mirror after punching it and downshifting when it's good and hot.

there is no such thing is a mechanic in a can. over filled tranny will vent themselves out the vent. youll notice some fluid out the breather if over filled.

Some of the performance trans builders slightly over fill these trannys because at high RPM the deep oil pans can get low quick.
