Old 5 cut, or new 2 cut. I have no dates of when they changed. This is for the differential back-lash. Thanks

maybe im having a brain fart, but i've never heard those terms when talking about backlash. Could you elaborate a bit?

Sorry here is some more info. I bought a new Yukon Dura Grip and in the installation booklet page showing torque spec's and backlash measurements for the Gm 8.5-8.6 it has two rows the "old 5 cut" and the "new 2 cut" row. The only difference is the b/l (0.000") 6-10 or the 2 cut 3-6.

If your ring gear has a line cut on the outside all the way around it, then you have a 2-cut gearset. If not it is the old standard 5-cut
