Default OEM Gears?

wanna get some OEM gears realll soon, OEM makes the best gears right? Looking to go ahead with some 4.10's on my 4.8L. anybody know how my fuel mileage will turn out going from 3.23's to 4.10s and like 90% city driving? Oh and how much do the OEM gears usually run for?

to me gears are gears. in city driving going from 3.42 to 3.73 to 4.10 my mileage had gone up. i know i lost a tad on the highway but boo hoo. i wouldn't have done a gear swap if i didn't intend on losing some on the highway.

city driving was much much much improved. trust me. when traffic starts to move faster you don't have to punch it to keep up. just give a little throttle and your moving.

as far as which gears are better, damn bro, there all pretty damn strong. i doubt your or i have the power to break any.

don't be afraid of the brands thats out there. i have had oem, richmond and now strange. no noise in none of them so far. btw, when you pull gears out, they all smell like crap but look the same.

I got a set of used OEM 3.73's that had like 15-20K miles on them... they looked brand new. they havent gone in yet but there may be a little swap to some 4.10's in the future

alright, will these gears work for an 06 4.8L with stock 3.23 gears?

And is there anything else i'll need to order to have the gears installed, or is that pretty much all i need? Those were the cheapest gears I could find.

those will work. some people like to get a install kit which has new bearings and stuff. i have always just stuck my gears in with the oem stuff. it's up to you. i don't think the install kit is that expensive.
