That's exactly what I'm doing with my rcsb. I like where you out your gauges. I was going to out them in the door pillar by I may change my mind and do what you did. Very clean man! Good job! I'm glad someone said something about the driveshaft I had no idea that would happen. Looks like I'll be getting a custom driveshaft as well.

Picture of the master. The Bracketry is made, and painted white. You cannot see it, works great.

Hurst Shifter for a fbody. Used Hurst Rod, and made a Bracekt out of 1/4x1.56" steel stock.

I'll get a picture next time. The position that the Shifter comes out is pretty much 100% right in the middle of the cupholder/junk holder in console.

I am going from NV3500 to t56. Originally, I was keeping the NV3500 and just swapping a 5.3 into my 95 that had a 5.7. I bought all the parts and then found a t56 for cheap, so didn't use them. Let me know if you're interested in them or have questions about what I was going to use. For the t56, second gear was shot so I rebuilt the trans with Tick parts and replaced 2nd with a "viper" 2nd gear which is stronger. From 2000 up all t56 transmissions came with the viper style 2nd. So if you can, grab one of those. I also replaced the 3-4 shift fork w/ a steel one, shift pads with bronze, and 3-4 billet keys. Oh and relocated the shifter to the front inspection port so it comes out roughly where the stock shifter did using a keisler shifter relocation kit.
How close does relocating the shifter to front inspection hole make it? I have a 2005 RCSB with the 4.3/NV3500 that I want to put a 5.3/T56 in and I want to keep the interior as stock looking as possible with maybe the exception of a different shifter.

i thought there was a super-detailed t56 swap thread on here with a white (or some light colored) 2wd GMT800 ECSB that covered all that stuff.
and regarding Ed's turbo 8.1, the nv3500 lived behind that after being thrashed on by a 454 BBC (swapped in place of the original 4.3).
it's weight & heat that end up killing the 3500s (just like the t56s... which is why you don't want to put one in a suburban or a truck that tows). i found that out the hard way last fall pulling a 7000lb trailer too fast.
