Default No grille insert for cooler trans/engine temps

I cut my stock inner grille out and installed my trenz billet grille. Has anyone just left the bottom and top inserts out for two large open holes? Would that have a great impact on trans/engine temps, as opposed to a billet grille installed?

i think it would look silly though. i have a grill in the backyard cut like you are saying and by no means would i drive around with it on my truck without having a grill insert in front of it. i'm looking for a bigger radiator for the engine and i imagine it would have some impact on the tranny temps as well
