Default New PML Diff Cover

Nice fit, looks great and holds about .5 extra quart. Had to remover pan hard and unbolt both ends of the sway to get it on...

Hmmm, something that will fit on the Yukon, and also an upgrade. Where did you find that?

Other than holding another .5 quarts of gear lube, what other benefit does this cover have?

When you're towing, that extra capacity helps alot with controlling heat, which is the reason the 8.6 10 bolt fails when towing. The components are strong enough, until the lube overheats and stops protecting.

When is the last time you've ever heard of anyone overheating a differential unless the truck was way overloaded? You should have a bigger truck then. I don't want to come across as being a smartass but it seems like a waste of money/labor/effort

Originally I wanted a girdle for added strength then realised they wont fit on the Avv/4 link because of the pan hard/sway (about 3.25" clearance from back of dif housing to bars). So I opted for whatever extra strength I could find, cooling fins and extra capacity. They can be had with a port for a heat sensor as well. Also of interest was the drain...lots easier than regasketing every time!

IMO, once u grenade the rear end once every little improvement is worth it. When mine blew up (see my photobucket) it took the yoke and then the tranny too! Honestly though, my OEM cover kept leaking and I figured it was a little deformed from the impact...

Joe, try to think of it just as an upgrade, not a way to increase towing capacity. It's the same reason we add bigger transmission coolers, deep transmission pans, engine oil coolers, e-fans in place of clutch fans, etc.

I think it's a good idea, and I'm gonna add it to the 'to do' list for the Yukon.
