Default my truck turns to jello on the WOT 1-2 shift

My 1-2 shift is just wicked. The truck gets launched forward and has an instant 5-10 mph gain in speed going into 2nd. Problem is my tires bite hard and I get no chirp, no wheel spin. The truck sort of does this side to side wiggle and just feels really loose. Is this axle wrap that I'm feeling or am I about to break something?

if it shifts that hard you will end up breaking something...

I'm not worried about the 4L80E. Its the 10 bolt I'm worried about. I set it up pretty tight and they were used gears at that, the contact pattern was picture perfect but the spiders are tiny. I realize the shift is probably too hard but I'm wondering if this jelloness is a product of axle wrap or what.

Don't know how strong the output shaft is on the 80e but you just described how to break one. It'll dang sure break an axle or u joints too.

Can't help much with the sway but you really need to pull back on that shift pressure or adjust that shift kit some. Assuming you really aren't spinning. Is it stock pressure?.

How are your shocks?

get your shift pressure turned down. Mine shifts that hard and when I go back to my tuner (soon) I will have it relaxed a little. And the side to side wiggle... courtesy of the G-80

Im getting a posi here pretty soon

sounds like the rear may be stepping out on you a hair, or like you said bad axle wrap... I'd have that pressure adjusted and go about your business

I have it turned down some but the latest changes in PE air/fuel ratio and timing have made the engine even more reluctant to get pulled down during a shift which made the 1-2 shift as hard as it is now. I need to lighten up the shift pressure a little and it should be ok. The funny thing is its an open diff and I'm glad that it is. If it was a G80 it would be broken already.

So the side to side wiggle is a combination of everything then? Probably some axle wrap, maybe tires, maybe shocks, and too hard of a shift?

That depends. If I brake stall it a little and roll into the throttle it just lights the right rear up no questions asked. If I just nail it from a stop it has a rich bog due to too much AE MAP but I'm working on that.
