I'm pretty sure the new ratio was 2.75:1 1st (with a 1.52:1 2nd). I think I saw pricing in the $500 range.

That's vs the stock 2.48:1 1st of the 80E, or the 3.06 1st of the 60E.

For those guys with heavy trucks, that might be a good compromise between not enough gear (80E) and too much gear (60E).

FLP has the option to change to a lowwer first gear.

Yes they do as I saw one at Chuck's shop last week. One concern though is the size difference. The new gear in the planetary is significantly smaller than the stock 4L80E. While it helps the ratio, it may become the weak point. I was surprised at the difference in size. I think he is cryo-treating them to get them as durable as possible but I'd be a little worried if you have a high HP motor with the smaller gears.

I went from a 4l60e with a 2600 stall to a 4l80e with a stock stall. The truck is a slug off the line now especially with the turbo. It used to shift 1-2 around 38 mph. Now it shifts 1-2 around 68 mph. Hopefully in a month or two I can afford a new stall.

Too bad my engine gave up before I got the chance to notice the high first gear of my 80e.
I think my loose ART CARR stall makes up for it but now with the 6.0 going in I'll never know how bad it was with the 5.3l.

So if driving around on 33's with a whipple still seems slugish to me, I should probably just stick with the Level 5 4l60 and see what happens. That 80e first gear just does not sound like a good match for aggresive stop light driving.

About 700, but I don't think I got a great deal.
And I don't really care for how loose it feels for being a 2600, But I only got to drive it around the block so...........

To be honest I didn't notice the first gear being way too tall, but that’s me with very very little testing.
