Default Motive Gear pinion way smaller that factory? Is this normal?

I figured id check with you guys before I waste time. Just want to make sure someone didn't send me the wrong gears in the right box. The width of the pinion is the same but the teeth seem so much smaller. Take a look.

Maybe you are running a different gear ratio or the gears you ordered are for a truck that's different year or model.

What ratio are the other gears? If you are changing ratios for example going from 3.42 to 4.56 there will be a diffrence in the teeth.

Well my factory gear ratio is 3.42 and the new ones are 4.56 but it just seemed really strange that the teeth were so much smaller. Its probably normal but this is my first time doing this so just checking.

That's how it's supposed to be. Think about it, put two gears next to each other, change the gear ratio to something steeper and see how the small gear gets smaller.

If in doubt count the teeth, then divide the ring gear by the pinion... The Numerically lower ratio the thicker the ring gear gets, smaller the pinion gets.... There was a pretty big difference between 3.73 and 4.10 in my ifs front...could only imagine what the 4.56 would look like!!!

No ****...is that why the pinion gets smaller with lower (higher numerically) gears?!
