Question more tranny woes

I posted a while back about my tranny running low on oil and not working properly. At first it would take a while to do a 1-2 shift and was really soft. Also, when I'd punch it doing approximately 37-60mph held in second gear, it stall up to above 4.5-5k and then take off. After a recent rain a month or so ago it got really bad, to the point where second gear is totally useless. It won't shift at all at wot in first gear. During partial acceleration from a stop it slips and tries to skip second gear. If I nail it in 2nd gear at any speed above ~37mph it it slips like a bitch and revs all the way to redline, almost as if it's in neutral, that's how bad it is. One more thing, if I hold 2nd gear down a hill the revs gradually drop to about 1k. Getting into overdrive isn't that smooth either, but that's not too big of a problem. Not having a usable 2nd gear and having to shift manually is really getting annoying, so I want to get it fixed ASAP. I assume my transmisson clutch packs or something are fried (I don't know much about transmissons), but what about the possibility of a bad converter, although it seems odd that it would only have problems in 2nd gear. Would a detiorated MAF sensor cause such a problem? My best bet is to take it to the dealer I guess, so they can diagnosis it, although they probably don't want to see me again lol. Thanks for any help.

If it's stock or close to it .. I'd go to the dealer. Sounds like your band is toasted. That means pulling it apart to replace it.

If it ever runs low on fluid again, put some in it ... don't ride around letting it do stuff like that. That's what burnt up the band I bet.

Thanks for your help. Drivetrain wise it's pretty close to stock. After the initial problem I put fluid in to the reccomended level. It didn't get any worse for about 2 months and then it all of a sudden got a lot worse as I described.

Are you looking for a rebuild or an answer to the problem?? It sounds to me like the tranny is going to have to be dropped.

let me know if your going to take it in.. I had my tranny rebuilt at Golden Gate Transmissions out here in Pleasanton. They do excelent work and will put any parts you want in there. I have a 2 year warranty also.
