Is it okay to stand a tranmission up. The bell housing to engine surface as the base and the tailshaft pointing up. I have a new to me tranny and want to clean it and install servo and shift kit and don't have a stand.

My buddy just did it the opposite way (bellhousing up) to install a new pump and it was fine. I can't imagine why you wouldn't be able to. I've also seen trannies rotated every which way on stands to get to different parts of them. You should be fine.

Will be fine... if you're installing the shift kit, just use a light amount of assembly lube to keep the little parts within the valve body in place while you're working. You'll need to get to the pump at some point (if you're installing an HD2).
In a situation like that, something like I did would work for ya just fine... (see below).

Thanks for the input guys. Figured it was okay but you very seldom see them sitting like that.
HD2 kit and at least a Vetto servo going in as soon as I can get them here. Tore into the tranny a bit tonight, looks good and starting another thread with ID questions.
