No harm done... If someone hit 160 mph on a stocker, I'd want everyone to hear about how it didn't turn into a catastrophe! Thx for sharing!

I pushed mine to a little over 120 one time and had a vibration from then on. A few months later I was playing with one of my cousins on an on ramp and just after it shifted to third at WOT, the shaft blew a foot long section out of the middle lol. I got lucky, it just dented the fuel tank cover and the muffler, no broken trans housing or anything else. I found another stock one till I spent the big bucks on a carbon fiber that's supposedly good for 150+ mph and 1500HP.

A 2 peice shaft will have a very different critical speed than a single peice shaft. The ones in the CCSB trucks are perticularly bad. The funny thing is if you run straight passed the critical speed and aren't in the "danger zone" very long you can make a lot of high mph runs. The problems usually occur if you try to cruise at a set speed above 100+ and make the mistake of finding the critical speed for too long.

I had 1 let go in a rcsb and it took out a cat/exhaust/transmission extension housing. I got a steel shaft built.
Balancing and U-joint angles amke a difference as well. The angle out of the trans needs to equal the angle at the reaend(or as close to as possible.

I just got to experience this bit of awesomeness last month. I have an 06 CCSB with the 5" diameter one piece shaft. Previously I had set my top speed to 113 to match the speed rating of my tires. I floored it to pass a line of five cars on the highway, hit 110 (not sure of the rpms at that point) and felt a little vibration and before I could let off the accelerator...BOOM!

My experience is the same as Whitecrewcab. It dented the shield over the tank and my muffler. Gouged up my pinion yoke and tranny yoke but not much other damage. Unfortunately, even with a new shaft it still feels like there is a little vibration and the ride isn't as smooth. Yeah, I get to have fun tracking the last of the issues down...

The bright side is I still passed all five vehicles with no shaft.
