Default Making a Custom shift lever-looking for input

Hello all,
I want the Hurst-style shift lever look w/ either the round white **** or pistol grip. I can't find a Hurst lever that will fit the nv3500 in an 06 silverado. So what I want to do it design one and have it laser cut out of steel and painted or chromed. I think 1/2" steel will be overkill for the lever thickness, but I am not sure. What does everyone think? What thickness steel/ **** style/ overall design do you guys think would work? Does anyone have pictures of a hurst setup in one of these trucks. I know hurst made a short throw kit a while back. Thanks for any input!
