I found lip seal tools online for $20, too much!

I made my own with two guages guitar string for $1.50 and had some brake line in the garage.

Clever! Did you use any adhesive or tie the wire in a knot before inserting into the tube and compressing it?
Just thinking here for anyone else trying this to make the tool a little more robust... the two wires could be tied together before inserting into the tube then after pinching the ends, take a punch in between the loop leads on each end to keep it from pulling thru. The punch method could also be use with just tying the ends of each loop before inserting in the tube.

Those are great ideas. The wires were cut a little longer than the tool. I yanked on them pretty hard and they held. I'll report back on how well it holds together
