How do you have the truck and axle supported? When I did mine I just put the axle on jackstands and moved the truck up and down with the jack. Sometimes the lower bushing gets tight in the hanger....if you tap on it with a hammer when it has pressure on it it will usually move down.

Yeah... what Thunder says. But watch the fingers. It will bite you and hang on. Don't ask me how I know. After bout 30 minutes of yelling I finally got the wife in the garage to help get me loose.

Place a block under the bumper and jack it up from there to meet the spring. I placed mine in the middle to do both at the same time.
