Default Lowering 02 Sierra sportside

Hey guys, need help picking the right equipment to lower the truck. Want to keep the ride height I have as of now (one leaf spring removed from rears) but want to do it right. Tire/rim specs are 305/40/22. Fronts will just be getting new shocks as the rims fill the gaps just fine. So what do you guys recommend?

first, do you have your spare tire and rear bumper as removing them makes a difference?

since you mention wanting to do it right, i will assume you will be putting that leaf you removed back on?

i got an 01 and before i dropped mine, i measured the difference in ride height by measuring distance from top of tires to fender and bed lips. the difference was roughly 3 inches. that being said along with the front being fine, i would recommend some 2 inch drop shackles. that will give you a slight 1 inch difference but if you throw anything in the back of your truck it will bring the rear down so i think it would be a good idea to have that 1 inch difference. plus when you gas it up and when you get on, the rear will go down a little probably make it less than the 1 inch difference also. if you can post or pm me a pic, it would be easier to verify that will be enough. good luck and dont hesitate to pm me with any ?s rob

Thanks for replying guy. Well, I no longer have the leaf springs so I was hoping I could buy a drop kit that would give me the same drop as I have now. Also, no, I don't have the spare anymore. I'll post some pics tomorrow to give you a better sense of what I'm going for. I really appreciate the help man.

measure from the center (ground) below the tire straight up to the center top of the rear wheelwells to get height measurement. (save this number)

then do the same with the front.

subtract the front measurement from the rear to determine the difference. (if truck is leveled right now, it should be minimal; if slightly raked, maybe an inch.)

get back with me on the difference number. easier if you pm me or text me for quicker response if in a hurry. also ask yourself if you plan or think you may ever remove and replace the rear bumper with a rollpan? cause that may be something to factor in prior to deciding the best kit for you to get. rob (956) 802-7700.
