Lighter Wheel and tire combo.
 

I’m trying to find a lighter wheel and tire combo than what I have, I want either an 18 or 20 inch rim with a tire that’s in the 29 inch range. Ideally I just want for drag radials, and good looking rims to run all the time.


Anyone have any suggestions?

Good luck with the wheel choice if you are looking to keep it economical. I have been researching ways to get wider rubber(295+, 28-29" height) all the way around on my truck which is going to require new wheels. Currently Forgestar, BC Forged and Brixton are at the top of my list for a 20x10/11 combo. I have found other custom forged 6lug options but they are $1000+ per wheel which is more than I can justify.

Being you want a drag radial, that really narrows your options to:
305/45/18 - wheel range = 9.5-(10.0)-11.5 Tire options: Nitto Nt05R, Nitto 555R, MT ET Street-R

305/35/20 - wheel range = 10-(11)-12 Tire options: Nitto 555R; MT ET Street SS

315/35/20 - wheel range = 10.5-(11)-12.5 Tire options: Nitto NT05R

With the width of the above options, it may be difficult to get the fronts to tuck without rubbing which leaves...

275/40/20 - wheel range = 9.0-(9.5)-11 Tire: MT ET Street SS

A 20x9.0 or 20x9.5 may be more easily found off the shelf with a tuck-able offset. (possible choices: Method, Black Rhino, Dub, Factory
Reproductions, etc)

I'm partial to the NNBS de-cladded 20" rims. I have a set, I can weigh one of them tonight if you want.

Are they somewhat light? Sure if you can please do. I am curious.

Good luck finding something sticky taller than 28"

If you can score a set of 18" or 20" old school Centerlines off craigslist or whatever, those are pretty damn light. I have a set of 20" Centerline Stingrays on my wife's SS and they are stupid light, especially compared to the 22" of the same wheel on my SS. Usually see prices of $600-$1000 a set, without tires, depending on size, style, and condition. (some of those designs were just butt ugly and aged poorly, but others are nice.) Watch out for repaired wheels. Any signs of aftermarket welding would be a dealbreaker for me; I've had wheels repaired and they just keep cracking later.
