Default Learn from my issue NV4500 261HD fail!

I bought a 03 2500hd a few months back. I do some car shuttling/delivery and tow a decent amount. I live in Branson Mo had a car to haul to Dallas Tx. Checked all fluids, hooked up the 20ft tilt deck and loaded the car. 140 miles out the trans makes a grinding noise in 5th then nothing! Pull of the road thinking it tore the center out of the clutch. Got everything home and pulled the trans to find this...

The trans had less than a quart of fluid in it when i pulled it...

Bought a used low mile trans and put in. Filled with fluid drove about 300 miles around town. Bought a car about 100 miles away, hook trailer up and head out.... 90 miles away BAM same noise SAME result... FML WTF

Get the truck home again and pull the fill plug on the trans.... EMPTY AGAIN!
Pull the FILL plug out of the transfer case and BAM out comes my 100bucks worth of Syntorq....

Rebuild original trans and go to change transfer case seal... Almost an inch of end play! split the halves and fix all the issues at $530 in parts.

All i can say is it was a costly lesson for me, never even occurred to me where the fluid had went the first time. On the positive side i have a fresh trans and transfer case!

Damn, sorry about your luck. Hopefully that fixes it.

I've put 1500 miles on it so far. I've about wore the fill plug out checking the fluid!
