After installing we went for a drive. It in D,3, or 2 will start out in 2nd. If any of those gears you start to roll and then drop it into 1st you feel it down shift. But automatically it will not start out in first.

I already had a check engine light so im gonna have it ran tommorow to see if any tranny codes come up.

Any ideas?

Sound like you missed something in the shift kit. I would go back over the directions step by step and make sure you didn't miss something or install it improperly. With second gear starts I would probably look at the 1-2 acc piston and make sure that you didn't leave the seal off the piston. Maybe it got ripped during the install. Also I can't remember the effects but also check to make sure that installed the shift valve with ball and spring properly. Make sure you don't have the band to tight. You should be able to turn the drive shaft in both directions. One way will be harder to turn. Thats ok.These are common mistakes I've seen. Good luck.

 

ok well we fixed it tonight, I think it was the seperator plate gasket, it was covering the oiling holes, I think that woul dbe the best way to describe it.

But the truck still never had power in first. We would get on it and first and it would NOT pull very hard till it hit 2nd. Once it hit 2nd it was gone. Untill 2nd is NO LONGER their. Now their is NO 2ND GEAR. It goes from first to 3rd. Now im in a bigger predicament.
